Where yoga meets the moon. Each week, this class is inspired by a moon phase, zodiac sign or astrological event.

Just as the moon shapes the Earth’s tides, its pull influences the inner tides of our emotions, thoughts and feelings. With our bodies made up of 60% water, we are deeply connected to its rhythm.

This is a slower and introspective practice which includes extended pranayama (breathing techniques), slower asana (postures), affirmations, contemplation prompts and creative meditations to tune inwards to find stillness and balance.

An affinity with the moon

Do you ever catch yourself gazing at the moon, marvelling at its colour, shape or light? Maybe you wait eagerly for it to reappear after the darkness of the New Moon phase or smile when it peeks through the clouds.

For me, the moon is a lifelong companion. I greet her with a big “hello” when I see her for the first time each day and bid her “goodnight” before I go to bed. I even sang to the moon when I was younger; sometimes I still do!

The moon, in its quiet majesty, grounds us in the same natural cycles our ancestors followed. By combining its energy with yoga, we deepen this connection, anchoring ourselves firmly in the present moment.

Practising yoga with the moon not only strengthens this bond but also heightens our awareness of life’s natural ebb and flow, reminding us that we are part of something much greater.

Suitable for: beginners or if you’re experiencing or recovering from stress.
