Jessi, 27, works as an account manager for a pet business software company. With a fully remote job, most of her days are spent working from home, surrounded by her three cats and newly adopted dog.
Jessi had been practising yoga at home since 2020, fitting in sessions anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour and a half. But something was missing. Jessi found herself craving more – more mindfulness, more connection and a reason to step outside her home.
Despite her existing home practice, the idea of joining a class felt daunting.
“I knew Kim taught yoga, but I wasn’t ready to come to a class yet,” Jessi admits. “I’d only ever practised at home using an app and I’m quite socially anxious. I don’t have a big social circle. I knew I needed to meet people, but it was a big step.”
Determined to create a sense of routine and accountability, Jessi booked onto a 7am class – a challenge in itself as she’s never been a morning person. “Working from home makes it easy to sleep in, but booking a 7am yoga class meant I had to get up and show up. That made a huge difference.”
As the weeks went by, something unexpected happened. Jessi found herself not just turning up to class but becoming part of a community. “I’ve made loads of friends now. We even meet up outside of the yoga class. Before, working from home felt isolating. Now, I’ve built a support system around me. I feel included.”
The shift wasn’t just social. The practice itself took on a new depth. “Practising in a class is so different from practising alone. Kim’s classes help me tap into myself in a way I just can’t do at home. She creates a safe space where I can actually let go, I didn’t expect that.”
This emotional release became even more valuable as the months got colder. “Between September and December, life is really stressful. Christmas is always a tough time of year and the darkness of winter never helps. But yoga gave me something solid to hold onto. I try not to let things build up anymore.”
Jessi understands the hesitation of stepping into something new. “If you’re on the fence, reflect on what’s actually holding you back. Is it just an excuse? I had that hesitation, but I went for it, and I haven’t looked back since. Even if you don’t enjoy it, at least you tried.”
For anyone considering trying a class, her advice is simple: “I’m so grateful for the spaces Kim sets up. I’d recommend her classes to anyone, even if they already do yoga somewhere else, they should try Kim’s too.”
Kitty’s life is a blend of creativity, entrepreneurship and community connection. She splits her time between working in retail on Humber Street, writing for an independent online business and running her own mindful tea company. While she loves the variety, the constant movement means life can sometimes feel overwhelming.
At home, things are just as fluid. She and her husband live in her family home, where unfinished DIY projects serve as a quiet reminder that she prefers to spend her downtime elsewhere. “When I have time for myself, I choose to do things outside the house,” she explains.
A couple of years ago, after the pandemic, Kitty found herself in search of a new movement practice. She knew she needed to move her body but wanted something that wasn’t rigid or intense having practised yoga before she knew it was what she needed.
“I wasn’t going to the gym or dance classes like I used to and I find the gym so boring,” she admits. “I was also feeling quite anxious and needed something calming, something just for me.”
Her friend Claire introduced her to Kim through a Hips Workshop in 2022. From there, Kitty joined moon circles and weekly vinyasa classes, slowly deepening her connection to yoga. Then, in 2024, Lunar Slow Flow launched, and something just clicked.
Kitty was drawn to Lunar Slow Flow immediately. She had always been interested in alternative wellness spaces and the idea of combining that with a slower, more intuitive yoga practice intrigued her.
“I fill my life with a lot of activity, which I love but the downside is I can get exhausted. This class was like a free pass to slow down for an hour. It was a no-brainer.”
From the very first class, she noticed something different. Lunar Slow Flow wasn’t just movement; it was an invitation to check in with herself. “It helps me pause and ask, ‘What is going on with me at the moment?’ It’s a structured check-in, but with space to explore what I need.”
What surprised Kitty the most was how much strength she built not just physically, but mentally.
“When I first started vinyasa yoga, holding a plank felt impossible. Now I can stay there for ages,” she says. “But more than that, I don’t judge myself as much anymore. Yoga has taught me to be kinder to myself.”
She’s also discovered a sense of control over her energy. “Before, if I was feeling low or anxious, I’d get stuck in that feeling. Now, I have the tools to manage it. I still get anxious, but I know how to move through it.”
Beyond the personal growth, one of the biggest surprises has been the sense of connection she’s found. “I never expected to find a community,” Kitty reflects. “But practising yoga with others creates this unspoken trust. It bypasses the need for small talk. We’re just there, together, supporting each other.”
She describes the Lunar Slow Flow and Vinyasa classes as nurturing, a space where she feels both held and free. “Even if I’m not feeling great, I still come to class because I always leave feeling better. I’m accepted as I am.”
Practising with Kim has also deepened her understanding of yoga itself. “I’d never really connected to the ancient wisdom behind it before. Now, I get it. There’s this undeniable energy. When you move your body in a certain way, it can only have a positive effect.”
Each class connects yoga philosophy to daily life, something Kitty finds invaluable. “It’s not just about moving; it’s about how you can use these teachings outside the class. That’s been a lovely bonus of practising regularly.”
For anyone hesitant about trying yoga, Kitty’s advice is simple: “It’s the best gift you can give yourself. You are worth that investment. Just try it and if it’s not for you, you don’t have to go back.”
And if nothing else?
“You’ll have a lovely hour just for yourself. And that’s always worth it.”
Before coming to yoga, Charlotte had been off work for 18 months, navigating a period of illness and recovery. As she prepared for a fresh start with a new job, she found herself in a process of change, not just professionally but personally as well.
Charlotte wanted to reconnect with herself, calm her mind and build inner confidence. “I was constantly in my head,” she explains, “I had been through so much change it was overwhelming. I just wanted to find a way to be present, stop overthinking and be more connected to the moment.”
It was the practice of breathwork during Lunar Slow Flow that caught Charlotte’s attention.
Having explored breathing techniques in therapy before, she quickly realised how much it resonated with her, “ I was able to let go of all the overthinking and really be present.” She appreciated how the yoga classes gave her a safe, calm space to explore this tool a little more.
“Breathwork became a tool I could use any time – whether in the middle of a busy day or when I needed to calm down before bed.” So when Charlotte heard Kim was doing an in-depth breathwork workshop, she jumped at the chance to learn more.
The workshop included practising several breathing techniques to find calm and the science behind the breath held in a space with like-minded people.
Because of the workshop, Charlotte’s confidence grew. She left the workshop feeling skilled and empowered, knowing that she could apply these techniques to her life in a meaningful way.
She was surprised at how quickly she was able to incorporate it into her routine, “I’ve been practising every day since the workshop. It’s made a huge difference. Starting with breathwork has helped me sleep better and I feel so much more energised and grounded throughout the day.”
To anyone unsure about giving yoga a try, Charlotte has this to say:
“Just try it. If there’s a part of you that knows it will be helpful, go for it. The feeling of inner calm, the tools to turn the noise off – it’s life-changing. Whether it’s just 10 minutes a day, yoga and breathwork will equip you with skills that really help in the long run.”
For Charlotte, it wasn’t just about surviving in stressful moments it was about proactively using breathwork to cultivate a more peaceful daily life.
Lauren is deeply immersed in community work, facilitating sound baths and teaching yoga to help people connect with themselves and others. “I help people help themselves,” she says, creating spaces for expression and guiding individuals to find their own solutions. Her intuitive work, which includes connecting people and giving advice, naturally led her to explore tarot as another tool for guidance.
Lauren uses tarot to help navigate periods of uncertainty. “When I do these types of things, it’s intuitive, impulsive, felt from inside. I feel like I need guidance or a message,” Lauren explains. Tarot readings offer a safe space for her to unravel the message and receive reassurance, particularly in times of transition.
“When I feel a little unsure, it comes in times of uncertainty. I need some reassurance from ancestors, spirit, or whatever is guiding us,” she adds.
Life can be busy and unpredictable for Lauren, often feeling “scatty” and “airy” with multiple plates spinning. During these times, tarot offers the grounding she needs. “The cards ground me and bring the spinning plates down,” Lauren shares. “They help me take a moment so clarity can come in.”
For her, tarot provides a stillness that allows her to listen rather than rushing through the day. “During a reading, you are physically still and listening to the cards and the person interpreting,” she says, appreciating the space it provides to reflect.
Lauren describes her reading as reflective and beautiful. “I felt really childlike,” she recalls, feeling as though she’d just received a pep talk from the spiritual world. The tarot reading was like a story, woven together intuitively through the cards and it gave her a sense of safety.
“The way Kim reads the tarot is so beautiful. It was like a story. I felt like a child being read a story of what is happening to me right now. Kim intuitively reads this story from this table of cards and pictures, weaving it all together,” she says.
The reading confirmed some of what Lauren had already felt and she left feeling more sure of herself. “It confirmed some of the things I already felt. I left feeling more sure about what I’m doing and what is to come,” Lauren reflects. “Less scatty, more still, it slowed everything down.”
The effects of the tarot reading stayed with Lauren long after the session. “I’ve started the work suggested by the cards,” she says. The themes of new beginnings continued to resonate. She even saw a reflection of her reading during a community event she attended.
“The tarot opens the mind, body, and soul to other messages that need to be received,” Lauren explains. “It triggers your awareness to look out for the signs.”
What stood out to Lauren the most was how the tarot reading was woven together like a magical story, helping her understand the greater picture of her life. “It was so magical how Kim expresses and connects with the cards. The way the cards interweave together and the analogies used were really unique. It all linked together, it was like a map of what’s happening,” she says.
The reading gave her a new sense of ownership over her future. “Kim helped me understand I can change the course of my destiny. I am the driver,” Lauren says. “It’s not black and white. The reading shows a full spectrum of how everything could be.”
